A Message from Kevin Sinfield

Apr 25, 2021 | 0 comments

Check out the amazing video message I’ve had from Leeds Rhino’s rugby legend, Kevin Sinfield, supporting Fothers Mission 24 for MND.

I contacted Kevin about Fothers Mission 24 following his amazing fundraising activities for MND through his connections with former teammate, Rob Burrow.

Rob was diagnosed with MND in 2019 and in November 2020, Kevin decided to run seven marathons in seven days to raise £77,777 for the charity in honour of Rob’s shirt number. He has gone on to raise more than £2.7million.

The support from Kevin and the MNDA is most welcome, in fact it’s an absolute honour and I can only thank them for their well wishes and encouragement.

What is Fothers Mission 24?

Simon Fotheringham

Fothers Mission 24 will see me, Simon Fotheringham, run a mile every hour for 24 hours to raise money for MND.

Following my father suffering for many years and losing his battle with MND last year, I wanted to do something to help the many other people and their families suffering with this horrendous disease.

While I’m not anywhere near the athlete that Kevin Sinfield is and even one marathon would be a stretch too far at my age, I still wanted to do something worthwhile and memorable in my Dad’s honour.

You can read my full story here.

I’ll be joined along the way by some great friends and colleagues and also some amazing sporting and celebrity names. Only a few have been announced so far, but you can check out the full list here.

If you’d like to get involved with Fothers Mission 24, you can do so in many ways. Donations can be made via a dedicated JustGiving page, you can become a sponsor and enjoy a range of benefits. Alternatively, we appreciate all the support so feel free to spread the word and share this website with friends, family and colleagues or follow me on social media (links in the footer).
