At The Starting Yates

Apr 27, 2021 | 0 comments

Fothers Mission 24 will officially kick off from The City Ground at 5pm on Friday 2 July with Nottingham Forest midfielder, Ryan Yates, joining me on my first mile.

Ryan and I will be running around the world-famous City Ground for one mile, which is approximately 4 laps of the stadium, but I may need to get the calculator out to make sure!

As a lifelong Forest fan, I’ve already fulfilled every young child’s (and probably most adult’s!) dream by working for the football club I love. I’m now honoured to have first-team player, Ryan, getting involved in my fundraising for Fothers Mission 24.

Ryan, a fellow life-long Forest fan, made his debut in the 2018-19 season and has been a regular in the first time this season under Chris Hughton. His passionate and honest performances in the centre of the park have adhered him to many Forest fans.

I want to thank Ryan for offering his valued time and for his support towards my Mission. I also want to thank Nottingham Forest for allowing Ryan to run a mile with me in what is likely to be the start of a very important pre-season.

What is Fothers Mission 24?

Simon Fotheringham

Fothers Mission 24 will see me, Simon Fotheringham, run a mile every hour for 24 hours to raise money for MND.

Following my father suffering for many years and losing his battle with MND last year, I wanted to do something to help the many other people and their families suffering with this horrendous disease.

I wanted to do something worthwhile and memorable in my Dad’s honour and you can read my full story here.

I’ll be joined along the way by some great friends and colleagues and also some amazing sporting and celebrity names. Only a few have been announced so far, but you can check out the full list here.

If you’d like to get involved with Fothers Mission 24, you can do so in many ways. Donations can be made via a dedicated JustGiving page, you can become a sponsor and enjoy a range of benefits. Alternatively, we appreciate all the support so feel free to spread the word and share this website with friends, family and colleagues or follow me on social media (links in the footer).
