I am absolutely honoured to announce that the legend that is Stuart Broad will be joining me on a mile of Fothers Mission 24, subject to availability.
As many people will know, I’m a big cricket fan and a huge fan of Broady. Not only is he a superstar in English cricket – as the second highest wicket-taker for England – he’s a Nottinghamshire legend as a long-serving player for Nottinghamshire CCC and also a fellow Forest fan.
Stuart and I have met several times over the years and while we have a mutual love of many things, we also share a sad connection too.
Like myself with my Dad suffering from MND until losing his battle just before Christmas, Stuart and his family have been through something very similar. Stuart’s step-mum, Michelle, suffered with MND and sadly passed away in 2010.
On the back of their tragic loss, the family set up their own charity raising funds for MND, The Broad Appeal.
The fact that Stuart will be running a mile with me, of which more details will follow, is an incredible honour as I know how busy his schedule is. I thank him enormously for his support.
If you’d like to get involved with Fothers Mission 24, you can do so in many ways. Donations can be made via a dedicated JustGiving page, you can become a sponsor and enjoy a range of benefits. Alternatively, we appreciate all the support so feel free to spread the word and share this website with friends, family and colleagues or follow me on social media (links in the footer).
